Comedian Whitney Cummings roasted just about everyone during her guest appearance on CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live, including hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen and the network they were broadcasting on.
According to a new report published by the Washington Post last month, since the U.S. election, CNN has seen a 45% drop in prime-time viewership, down to only 394,000 total viewers.
“I’m now playing 3,000-person shows, which is about the viewership of CNN these days,” Cummings, 43, swiped during the broadcast.
But Cohen and Cooper took her dig in stride. “Nice, nice,” Cooper replied with a laugh, while Cohen remarked, “Wow, you’re all fiery today.”
Cummings also took aim at the Democrats for standing by President Joe Biden even after he was trounced by his Republican rival Donald Trump in their first debate.
“The Democrats couldn’t hold a primary this year. They were too busy holding up a body upright,” she said.
She continued to shred the party for nominating Kamala Harris after Biden was forced out of the race.
“It was amazing that the pro-choice party didn’t give their voters one when it came to the presidential candidate. Kamala was forced on us so hard, you would think she was patented by Pfizer … or Moderna,” Cummings joked.
As clips of her rant went viral, Cummings re-shared a segment of her appearance alongside the caption: “I mean please list the lies I told?”
She also posted all the topics she covered in her “list of things the establishment media will never cover.”
“The first Trump shooter didn’t have any silverware in his house – no one thought that was weird? The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia put money into Disney, so just know there won’t be any girl characters in the next Cars movie … Why are so many presidents chefs dead? Weird.”
Cummings later took to X to share several wisecracks she cut from her appearance, including another swing at Harris.
“Another joke I cut for time: Kamala Harris went on the podcast ‘Call Her Daddy.’ She should have called her actual daddy and asked for a better pic for her team to Photoshop a McDonald’s hat onto,” she wrote, referencing Harris’ claim that she worked at the fast-food chain when she was in college.
President-elect Trump maintained that Harris’ assertion that she had held a blue-collar job was made up and he made a highly-publicized campaign stop at a McDonald’s in October,
Cummings shared another lengthier critique that didn’t make it to air, this one targeting the Boy Scouts of America.
“A joke I cut from CNN roast for time in the ‘news mainstream media will never cover’ section: The Boy Scouts of America re-named itself ‘Scouting America’ … How about you guys just get rid of the creeps? You’re not getting sued cause of your clunky name. You got rid of the ‘Boy’ part? So you molest girls now too? Scouting America? What are you scouting America for, little boys? (Changing) ‘Boy Scouts’ to ‘Scouting America’ would be like changing the title of ‘School Crossing Guard’ to ‘Child Trafficker,’” she wrote.
Cohen had a chance to turn the tables on Cummings when he asked her about her decision to pass on hiring pop star Sabrina Carpenter when she was casting actors to appear in the 2018 Roseanne revival.
“Sabrina Carpenter auditioned … and it wasn’t the right fit. She got a rejection that day when we were casting the daughter,” Cummings recently told PEOPLE. “And by the way, thank God we said no to her because she’d be stuck on a sitcom set and not being Sabrina Carpenter.”
Carpenter, was up for the role of Roseanne’s granddaughter, which eventually went to Emma Kenney.
“Of course, you’re going to bring up this drama,” Cummings said when Cohen asked about it. “She came in and she was not a match for a million reasons.”
Cummings then quipped that she should be getting a portion of Carpenter’s touring revenue now that she’s one of the biggest names in music.
“I deserve a percentage of her touring money for not hiring her. Otherwise, she would still be on that show. You’re welcome, Sabrina,” she cracked.
