A person has been taken to hospital after falling from a height in Bristol yesterday, Monday, December 30. A major emergency service presence was seen in the area of Avon Gorge around 11am.

Clifton Suspension Bridge was closed a number of hours yesterday afternoon due to the incident. One witness told BristolLive the bridge and surrounding area was closed to cars and pedestrians while emergency services were in attendance.

Multiple witnesses said police, ambulance and fire crews were at the scene and the Coastguard were assisting. There was also a police helicopter in the area, with six ambulances and four fire trucks on Rownham Hill.

At the time of the incident, Avon and Somerset Police said: “We received a report shortly before 11am today (30 December) that a person had fallen from a height in the Avon Gorge area. Officers attended alongside other emergency services and remain at the scene.”

This morning, December 31, a spokesperson for the force confirmed that one person was taken to hospital following the incident. The bridge and surrounding roads were reopened.
