The skies have turned decidedly unfriendly for a Toronto man.
According to cops in Miami, Cameron Dylan McDougall, 28, went on a tear on an airplane — and at the airport.
McDougall was arrested and charged Saturday morning at Miami International Airport after he allegedly attacked fellow travellers and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers.
“This unprovoked and brash physical attack against our employees, who work tirelessly to ensure the safety of the travelling public and the security of our aviation system, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” TSA said in a statement to ABC News.
“TSA is working with law enforcement and will pursue independent enforcement actions against this individual.”
TSA officials said that the airport incident occurred just a day after McDougall allegedly was involved in mid-flight frolics that caused a jet to turn around because of the disturbance.
McDougall is now facing battery charges.
Cops say he first allegedly attacked a victim walking to his gate at Miami International Airport around 7 a.m.
Local 10 News reported that McDougall did not utter a single word as he approached the stranger from behind and allegedly “started punching” the man. After the initial incident, the Toronto man reportedly started fighting with another man who had attempted to intervene.
Not content to let sleeping dogs lie, McDougall then approached a TSA screening area and proceeded to pick a fight with officers, the arrest report stated.
The feisty flier allegedly threw punches at one officer as his arm was grabbed. Another TSA officer was punched three times in the face as he tried to intervene. Finally, an onlooker jumped into the melee and stopped the brawl.
By then, cops were on the scene.
TSA officials said that McDougall’s Miami adventure was preceded by an “in-flight disturbance” that forced the pilot of the plane he was on to return to Miami.
It isn’t clear what occurred on the jet but officials told ABC News that McDougall was not under the influence of booze. TSA has not said whether or not he was on drugs.
He has been charged with three counts of battery, including on a police officer and a person 65 or older.
