If you’re looking to ring in 2025 in Toronto, there are many ways to celebrate.
Like every new year, fireworks shows are where it’s at, as well as spending time with loved ones.
Now, if you can swing both, we predict it’ll be a wonderful year for you.
And this should help: Getting to wherever you are going couldn’t be easier, thanks to the TTC, GO Transit and UP Express offering free transit from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Unlike previous years, there is no outdoor bash at City Hall’s Nathan Phillips Square.
But here are ways you can welcome 2025:
New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Celebrations return to the waterfront with a fireworks display that is arguably one of the biggest shows in Canada.
There are prime spots around the city to catch the massive light show, including Toronto Music Garden, Sherbourne Common, Sugar Beach Park, HTO Park, Harbour Square Park, and Harbourfront Centre.
You can also enjoy short films from the National Film Board of Canada, which will be projected on the side of the Canada Malting Silos.
Toronto Music Garden, at 476 Queens Quay W., will feature pop-up a DJ performance by Traxx & Feels, and a countdown show at 11:45 p.m., hosted by Mayor Olivia Chow and drag performer Sanjina DaBish Queen.
Sherbourne Common, at 61 Dockside Dr., will showcase interactive circus performances by INCIRQUE, or visitors can take some dance lessons with the Dance Together Festival.
If you can’t make it downtown to see it all in person, you can tune into the celebrations from the comfort of where you are via a livestream link.
Note: Road closures begin at 10 p.m. on Dec. 31 until 2 a.m. on Jan. 1. to eastbound traffic on Queens Quay W., between Bathurst and Lower Sherbourne Sts.; Bay St., from Front St. to Queen Quay W.; and York St., from Front St. to Queen Quay W.
Skating at Harbourfront Centre
Strap on the skates and glide into 2025 before and during the fireworks extravaganza.
Skate and helmet rentals are available and the rink will remain open until 12:10 a.m.
