The OPP have charged four suspects from the Greater Toronto Area in a series of break and enters in Muskoka.
On Dec. 27 at 4:45 a.m., police were called to a building centre on Muskoka Rd. 169 in Gravenhurst where they say suspects stole $10,000 worth of tools and then fled in a large white panel van.
On Monday at 1:40 a.m., police conducting patrols on Wellington St. in Bracebridge saw an eastbound vehicle matching the tool robbery description and tried to stop the van. The driver didn’t stop and drove onto Hwy. 11 S. where the vehicle was finally stopped near Hwy. 12 in Orillia with the help of more officers and four suspects were arrested.
Just about the same time, at 1:45 a.m., police were called to a Bracebridge building centre on Wellington St. for a break and enter where a quantity of tools had been stolen.
Balkar Singh Mann, 35, of Brampton, is charged with assault a peace officer with a weapon, flight from police officer, dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident, operation while prohibited, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of break and enter, two counts of theft over $5,000, failure to comply with an undertaking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Nitish Rathee, 23, of Brampton, is charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of break and enter, two counts of theft over $5,000, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Manpreet Singh, 29, of Halton Hills, is charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, four counts of failure to comply with release order, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of theft over $5,000, two counts of break and enter, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Manpreet Singh, 26, of Palgrave, is charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of break and enter, two counts of theft over $5,000, failure to comply with an undertaking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Some stolen property was recovered from the vehicle, police added.
Police are looking for video surveillance in the area of Wellington St. in Bracebridge between 1-1:45 a.m. on Dec. 30. Anyone with information is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
