Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has revealed he feels “kind of depressed” following his high-profile boxing match against Jake Paul last month.

The 58-year-old boxing legend made the admission during an interview on FOX Sports Radio, reflecting on the emotional aftermath of his nine-month training camp and subsequent defeat.

The fight, which took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, marked Tyson’s first professional bout in 19 years.

Paul dominated the bout, landing 78 punches compared to Tyson’s mere 18 throughout the contest.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer secured a convincing points victory in front of 70,000 fans at the Texas venue.

The fight drew significant attention, with Netflix revealing that over 108 million users tuned in to watch the spectacle.

Despite the defeat, Tyson reportedly earned £20 million from the event, though he later admitted he couldn’t remember much of the fight itself.

The fight almost didn’t happen after Tyson suffered a severe health scare in June that left him fighting for his life.

“I was in the bathroom throwing up blood. I asked the doctor, ‘Am I going to die?’ He said, ‘We have options,'” Tyson told New York Magazine.

The boxing icon required eight blood transfusions after losing half his blood volume and dropping 25 pounds in just 11 days.

The health crisis forced the postponement of the original July fight date while Tyson recovered and rebuilt his conditioning.

Speaking to FOX Sports Radio, Tyson said: “That fight was such a big ascent—we were so up and high, we were so excited.

“The fight’s over, boom. Wow, I’m kind of depressed a little bit.”

Taking to social media after the bout, Tyson wrote: “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won.

“I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.”

He added: “To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for.”

In a recent interview, Tyson admitted he couldn’t recall much of the fight, saying: “I don’t remember it. But my body was really sore. My chest, my stomach was really sore.”

The morning after the bout, he questioned his decision to participate, telling his wife: “Why did I do that? I just don’t know what the hell was going on.”

The fight proved to be a significant streaming success for Netflix, with more than 65 million viewers tuning in to watch the controversial matchup.
