A family in Cornwall were left scratching their heads after spotting mysterious lights in the sky, which they suspect could have been a UFO. Charlotte Helyer described witnessing a “really strange series of lights” floating above the hills near her home in Torpoint.
Charlotte recounted that their first thought was that the lights might be drones, but as they drifted further away, she doubted a drone controller could keep them connected at such a distance. She noted the lights were silent and moved unlike anything familiar to her.
In a conversation with CornwallLive, Charlotte elaborated: “They floated left and right before seeming to reduce into just two balls of white light that floated away miles into the distance,” she shared with CornwallLive. “The distance is approximately six miles.”
“We can’t explain what they might be. They are too bright to be drones and the way they floated off into the distance means any drone controller would have been out of reach (they also did not return). They were also completely silent and did not move like anything I recognised.”
Charlotte reported that the enigmatic lights were seen earlier this summer on June 18 at around 10:30pm. To date, her family remains puzzled about the nature of the lights and their origin, leading them to consider the possibility that they had seen a UFO, reports Cornwall Live.
Cornwall’s skies have become a hotspot for UFO sightings recently, with an uptick in reports of enigmatic objects being captured on film at night. These baffling sightings occurred in St Cleer, near Liskeard, and Porthtowan along the northern coastline.
A dog walker shared with CornwallLive their encounter of an odd light spotted in the sky around 7:18pm in Porthtowan on Monday, December 9. They reported that it loitered in the sky for some 10 minutes before heading southwards along the coast.
The footage taken by the said individual depicts them walking towards the Royal Air Force Base before zooming into a peculiar light suspended afar. The dog walker is convinced that this sighting has ties to another recent UFO incident observed in Newquay.
Additionally, while reviewing his video captures of the lunar halo a momentary bright circle discernible around the moon last Sunday night (December 15), in St Cleer, photographer Chris Piper caught sight of a “blue or white object” hovering near the full moon.
Piper explained, “I was photographing the lunar halo and it wasn’t until I showed [the pictures] to my friend that he noticed the blue dot hovering around the moon. When I looked back at the motion pictures, it appeared to be moving.”
