Londonderry man Daryl Gurney’s PDC World Championship campaign is over.

He lost 4-3 to Welshman Jonny Clayton in a thrilling third round encounter on Friday afternoon at Alexandra Palace.

Clayton edged the first set then produced checkouts of 160 and 120 to clinch the second and third respectively, as he looked on course for a comfortable victory.

However, Superchin fought back, winning the next three sets to set up a decider. However, Clayton came through to win with a double four.

“That is my luck,” he told Sky Sports. “In games like that you need a little bit of luck. He missed a few chances and I missed a few and at 3-3 my heart started to beat big time.”

On Saturday night’s Josh Rock plays Chris Dobey while Brendan Dolan takes on former champion Michael van Gerwen.
