A knife-wielding man is sought for an assault near a TTC station in North York earlier this month.
Toronto Police say officers responded to a call for a person with a knife in the area of York Mills TTC station, near Yonge St. and York Mills Rd., just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 15.
Investigators have now released security camera images of a suspect who was in custody briefly but managed to take off.
“It is reported that the suspect and victim got into a dispute after exiting the subway station on Yonge St.,” Const. Sinderela Chung said in a statement released Thursday.
She said the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim.
“Officers attended and investigated both parties,” Chung said, explaining the suspected assailant “fled police custody after being arrested.”
The suspect is described as approximately 20 years old with black curly hair. He was last seen wearing a black puffy jacket with a white “North Face” logo on the rear right shoulder, red hoodie, black neck warmer, black and white checkered pyjama pants, and white sneakers.
“Investigators are asking for anyone that witnessed the incident or has in-car camera footage to please contact police,” Chung said.
Anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is urged to call police at 416-808-3200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
