I listened to Olivia Chow’s passionate speech on how the poor Uber drivers can’t survive on less than minimum wage and her pleas to rectify the problem. If only she could muster up that much concern for the Jewish community in this city.

STOP THE NONSENSE
Prorogation of Parliament is a royal prerogative at the advice of the prime minister. As Canada faces a very real existential threat at this time, our Parliament must resume sitting as soon as possible. Therefore, if ever there was a time for the Governor-General to show that the Crown is here for Canadians and not just a ceremonial position that rubber-stamps anything the prime minister and his party want, it is now. The Governor-General needs to refuse this prime minister’s “advice” and not prorogue parliament, providing a needed check on (self-serving) power. If she does prorogue Parliament, the next (non-Liberal) government needs to get rid of this position.

CHRISTMAS SNEER
In today’s world of so-called diversity and inclusivity, why is it that only applies to everything and everyone but Christians? How exactly is that inclusive? This is most noticeable during the Christmas season. Everywhere you turn, it’s holiday this and holiday that, but when it comes to Christmas, it seems that Christ and Christianity are being purposely omitted from our world. I’ve noticed it more and more lately. I would like to remind everyone (especially those who wish people happy holidays) that Jesus is the reason for the season! And if it weren’t for him, there wouldn’t be a Christmas for us to celebrate in the first place. Why is it that other “holidays” are acknowledged by name but Christmas is reduced to just “holiday” in every facet of our lives? It’s not very inclusive at all to Christians. Especially during Christmas.
