Chris Kamara has said he would ‘absolutely’ accept another invitation to work with Jeff Stelling again after the pair reunited as part of Amazon Prime’s Premier League Boxing Day coverage.

Stelling stepped down as host of Sky Sports Soccer Saturday in 2023 after 25 years at the helm of the programme.

Kamara proved to be a popular figure on the programme and he struck up a friendly relationship with Stelling that provided some iconic television moments over the past two decades.

The 67-year-old brought his broadcasting career to a halt in 2022 after he was diagnosed with apraxia of speech (AOS).

But the charismatic football pundit announced earlier this month he would be making a return alongside Stelling as part of Amazon Prime’s football coverage.

The pair were back on the screens together on Boxing Day with the duo sharing some laughs live on air.

Kamara watched on as Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham 1-0 and he was impressed by what he saw from Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

“I loved it Jeff,” he said.

“The art of defending is still alive and kicking.

“That was the most important thing. You watched that game today and you watched Forest as a team, defending as a team.

“Even Chris Wood, up there on his own, would be back in his own half when the pressure was on. They were impressive.”

Kamara couldn’t say the same for Tottenham, who sit 11th in the table and 10 points behind north London rivals Arsenal.

“They look like a bottom half team today,” Kamara added.

“You look at the chances they had and they were all from outside the box.

“They didn’t create clear-cut chances. You’d have to say Sels made a couple of saves but nothing he could worry about so it is a problem.

“I think that’s the first time I’ve seen Spurs for weeks and they haven’t created clear-cut chances so maybe that’s just a one-off.”

Stelling then teased a second reunion in the future as he asked his friend to return.

He said: “Kammy, I’ve really enjoyed it. Shall we do this again sometime?”

Kamara didn’t hesitate as he replied with a smile: “Absolutely.”

Forest also paid tribute to Kamara during the match with ‘Welcome Back Chris Kamara’ written on the big screen inside the City Ground.

Kamara added: “Can I just thank Amazon and Nottingham Forest for the welcome on the big screen.

“Everyone’s been brilliant and thanks so much for the comeback.”
