The most desirable destination for British citizens considering a move abroad has been unveiled, with results contrary to the common assumption that Spain would take the top spot.

Data provided by 1st Move International has crowned the United States as the number one choice for relocation., followed by Australia and Dubai.

The firm commented: “The US is a diverse place full of opportunity, suitable for any stage of life, whether you’re still in education, looking to start a business, or simply craving your next adventure. Also, the lack of a language barrier for UK residents makes the transition more manageable.”

With Australia in second place, the company added: “Similar to the US, the lack of a language barrier for UK residents makes Australia an incredibly attractive opportunity. Combined with the weather, a stark contrast to the UK, travelling across the world to find your new home is irresistible.”

Dubai ranks third among British peoples preferred relocation spots. 1st Move said: “One of the most popular places in the UAE to relocate to is Dubai, its most populous country. Dubai has become a popular tourist destination in recent years.”

“However, it offers expats several benefits. It’s sunny, modern, and safe, making it suitable for families. Dubai also has no income tax, making your take-home income considerably higher.”

The list is rounded out by Canada in fourth place and New Zealand in fifth. Next is Cyprus, South Africa, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and finally the Cayman Islands.

When it comes to the most globally popular destination for people to relocate to, Canada came out on top, with Australia coming in as second most popular.

The study found that Canada was the most popular country to move to in 74 countries with India, Nigeria and South Africa searching for how to move there the most.
