For some, the traditional turkey dinner on Christmas Day doesn’t quite hit the spot. They’d be just as content with a Big Mac and fries.
Most UK McDonald’s will be closed on Christmas Day to allow staff to relax and spend the day with their loved ones. However, not all Golden Arches will out of action on December 25.
A few fast food restaurants will be open for business on Christmas Day, including 28 McDonald’s branches. While most are only open for a limited period, some maintain regular hours, remaining open overnight and into Boxing Day morning.
All McDonald’s stores resume normal operations from Boxing Day. But, if you can’t resist a takeaway treat for the day, some limited options are available.
We’ve made a list (and checked it twice) of every chain across the UK that’s open and their operating hours. You can check your local McDonald’s festive hours online here using the McDonald’s restaurant locator, reports the Mirror.

The limited edition festive menu – featuring the Big Tasty, Cheese McCrispy, Camembert Cheese Melt Dippers, as well as Terry’s Chocolate Orange McFlurries and Pies – will be available until January 5, 2025. But, fans can look forward to some exciting new additions in the New Year.
Starting from Monday, January 6, McDonald’s is introducing a new promotional menu that includes The Chicken Katsu One. Priced at £1.99 on Wednesdays, this wrap features either crispy or grilled chicken coated in a tasty katsu sauce, accompanied by crispy onions, crunchy cucumber, and fresh lettuce, all wrapped up in a warm, toasted tortilla.
Another newcomer to the menu is the BBQ Ranch Stack, which boasts two beef patties topped with Emmental cheese, lettuce, bacon, and crispy onions, all smothered in a tangy, garlicky ranch and sweet barbecue sauce, served in a glazed sesame seed bun. The menu will also see the return of some old favourites, such as the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse – a delicious combination of chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating, smoky barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, red onion, and lettuce, all served in a sourdough-style sesame-topped bun.
Fans of the iconic Mozzarella Dippers, breaded and served with Salsa dip, will be pleased to know these golden side sticks are here to stay until March 25 as a 3-piece side or 9-piece share box. And, on the dessert front, the new Milky Way McFlurry offers soft dairy ice cream swirled with milk chocolate stars and malt-flavoured pieces, all topped off with a chocolate sauce.
