Sir Keir Starmer has released his first Christmas message to the nation since becoming Prime Minister.

Starmer, who entered Downing Street after leading Labour to a landslide victory on July 4, filmed his message beside a Christmas tree in No10.

Opening his message, the Prime Minister said: “This Christmas, people will be travelling up and down the country.

“Heading home, visiting relatives and loved ones to celebrate together the hope and joy of this special season.

“It’s a time to remind ourselves what’s really important. Family. Friendship. And fellowship between all people.

“Being there for one another – in these celebrations, as well as the more difficult times.”

Starmer also paid tribute to members of the NHS, emergency services and Armed Forces for continuing to work over the festive period.

“I’d like especially to thank those who will spend their Christmas serving others this year,” the Prime Minister continued.

“In our NHS and emergency services, our Armed Forces and the churches and charities that will welcome every person this Christmas.

“Because I know that this is not an easy time for everyone, and my thoughts are with all those who are lonely this Christmas. Having a tough time, missing a loved one. You are not alone.

“Because as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Christmas story reminds all of us to reach out to one another. To care for one another. And to look after those around us.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Turning his attention to the Middle East before concluding his message, Starmer added: “This Christmas, I will be hoping for peace, particularly in the Middle East as the birthplace of the Christmas story.

“I’ll be looking towards a better, brighter future for every person and celebrating the joy and wonder that Christmas brings.

“So, from my family to yours, I hope you have a very merry Christmas.”

Starmer’s message comes shortly after the Prime Minister was handed a horrifying Christmas gift.

A petition demanding an “immediate” General Election after accusing Starmer of breaking his manifesto pledges exceeded three million signatures earlier today.

The Prime Minister has suffered from a notably short honeymoon period, with axing Winter Fuel Payments and altering Inheritance Tax rules for farmers resulting in a backlash.

“Sir Starmer and the Granny Harmers” festive hit mocking the Prime Minister has also managed to breakthrough in the sales and downloads charts.

Despite missing out on becoming Christmas number one, Chris Middleton’s “Freezing This Christmas” managed to grip the nation with its take Mud’s 1974 track “Lonely This Christmas”.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch also released her festive message.

She shared a heartfelt moment about losing her father before turning her attention towards the New Year.

Concluding her address, Badenoch said: “And I’m looking forward to 2025.

“I wish you all the very best for the New Year and all of the exciting things to come. Happy Christmas!”

However, Badenoch is also facing a potentially disastrous development over the festive period as Reform UK sets its sights on overtaking the Tories in terms of grassroots support.

The populist party, which created a live tracker yesterday, is less than 10,000 members behind the 131,680-strong Tory Party.

Insiders believe it will take Reform UK just weeks to soar past the Tories, with momentum building steadily behind Nigel Farage.

Badenoch’s 2024 Tory leadership rival Robert Jenrick, who now serves as Shadow Justice Secretary, also released a hilarious Christmas message earlier today.

Jenrick appeared to mock the standard practice of politicians releasing “cheesy” festive messages before highlighting efforts taken by Newark Round Table to assist the local community in December.
