This is the moment police brought a ‘terrifying’ incident to a safe conclusion after a drunk driver went the wrong way down a major dual carriageway.
Police said the driver of the white van was three times over the drink drive limit when they somehow managed to end up heading west along the A55 dual carriageway – on the eastbound side of the central reservation.
The incident happened as the North Wales Expressway went along the coast at Penmaenmawr, near Conwy in North Wales, and left drivers heading from Bangor to Conwy shaken as they had to swerve to avoid the van driver.
A spokesperson for Traffic Wales said: “This is the terrifying reality of drink driving – a driver three times over the limit going the wrong way on the A55.
“Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs isn’t just illegal – it’s deadly. This festive season, make the right choice. Don’t risk your life – or someone else’s,” they added.
