Jose Mourinho has taken to social media to dismiss concerns over his health, insisting that reports about his recent surgery have been “greatly exaggerated.”
The Fenerbahce manager addressed worried fans through an Instagram message, confirming he only underwent a “quick and minor procedure.”
The Portuguese coach, who has led the Turkish side to second place in the Super Lig standings this season, moved to ease supporters’ minds after reports emerged earlier this week about him requiring surgery abroad.
His statement comes just days after he was in the dugout for Fenerbahce’s 1-1 draw with Eyupspor on Friday.

In his Instagram message, Mourinho began by extending seasonal greetings, stating: “Wishing everyone a happy holiday season.
“May this time be full of love and happiness for you and your families.”
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss then addressed the health concerns directly: “For those of you who have shown concern, I can confirm reports of my surgery have been greatly exaggerated, it’s just a quick and minor procedure.”
His message sought to reassure supporters who had expressed worry following initial reports about his health condition.
The statement emphasised that the procedure was not as serious as some media outlets had suggested.
Initial concerns about Mourinho’s health were sparked by Turkish sports journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, who reported on social media platform X that the manager would “leave Istanbul today (December 21) to undergo surgery abroad due to a health problem.”
The post prompted an outpouring of support from fans worldwide for the veteran manager.

The news spread quickly through various media outlets, leading to speculation about the severity of Mourinho’s condition.
However, Mourinho’s latest statement has effectively put these concerns to rest, clarifying the minor nature of his medical procedure.
Mourinho emphasised his unwavering commitment to his professional duties, stating: “I will resume training on the first day back from the holidays, as always.”
The decorated manager highlighted his remarkable track record, adding: “I’ve never missed a session in 25 years, and I don’t intend to start now.”
Fenerbahce are scheduled to return to action after the festive period, with their next match set for January 5 against Hatayspor.
The team currently sits in second place in the Super Lig, with Mourinho expected to be back in the dugout for the home fixture.
His swift return to training will maintain his impressive quarter-century record of perfect attendance at training sessions.
