Alison Hammond has been showered with praise for her impressive 11st weight loss, with her This Morning co-hosts unable to resist complimenting her as she showed off her new figure in a mermaid costume live on air.

Currently taking on the role of the Magical Mermaid in Peter Pan, Alison is once again lighting up the stage at Birmingham Hippodrome. As reported by The Daily Mail, during a video call with her colleagues Dermot O’Leary, 51, Josie Gibson, 39, and Kate Lawler, 44, the trio were amused when they heard a familiar “Yoo Hoo!”, prompting Kate to question if it was the popular presenter.

Greeted with another jovial “Yoo Hoo!”, Alison made her glamorous entrance. Taken aback by her appearance in the metallic blue mermaid dress, both Josie and Dermot struggled to concentrate, openly admiring how “incredible” and “amazing” she looked.

Kate joined in, remarking: “It’s mermazing! You look like you are straight out of the Little Mermaid.”

Alison dismissed rumours that her 11st weight loss was due to Ozempic, a well-known diabetes medication used for weight loss. She revealed on This Morning that her journey to lose weight began after her mother’s death, who had been concerned about Alison’s pre-diabetic condition, according to the Mirror, reports Surrey Live.

Alison, who once weighed 28st, shared that her weight loss journey was not a quick fix but rather a straightforward one. She chose to eliminate sweets and fatty foods from her diet and started working out with a personal trainer.

In a candid discussion with Good Housekeeping UK about weight-loss injections, Alison remarked: “I think that, for people who need to use them, they’re a good thing – but for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened. So I haven’t wanted to use them, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t in the future, and I certainly wouldn’t look down on anyone who did.”

She added: “My mum had type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening. I thought: ‘I have to be an adult about this’. The sweets had to stop and the fatty foods.”

“Twice a week, I see my personal trainer and I have a couple of weights in my bedroom. I walk, I stretch and sometimes I do a bit of yoga.”

Not only has she shed the pounds, but she also consciously decided to auction her previous size 26 wardrobe to support charitable causes, honouring her late mother who died of liver cancer in 2020.
