The man who died after being struck by a car in Co Tyrone on Friday has been named as Edmund Hughes.
The pedestrian, who was from Dungannon, was knocked down on John Street in the town shortly after 6:30pm.
The casualty was taken to hospital but subsequently died from his injuries.
PSNI Inspector Cherith Adair, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from partner emergency services.
“Sadly, the pedestrian later died from their injuries in hospital,” she added.
“The road was closed and has since reopened.
“Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of the collision, and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our enquiries.”
Independent councillor for Dungannon Barry Monteith said “everyone is shocked and saddened” by the tragedy and that Mr Hughes “will be sadly missed by his family”.
Separately, a man in his 70s died following a road traffic collision in Co Antrim on Friday evening.
At around 6.30pm a black Porsche Cayenne mounted a roundabout on the Belfast Road in Ballynure and collided with a lorry.
A woman was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
