John Fury will be notably absent from his son Tyson’s corner during Saturday night’s heavyweight clash with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.

The 59-year-old’s absence follows a controversial incident in May when he headbutted a member of Usyk’s team prior to the first bout between the two men.

Instead, Andy Lee and SugarHill Steward will guide the heavyweight boxer through his attempt to claim the WBA, WBO, and WBC belts.

The absence marks a significant change in Fury’s corner team, where his father’s ringside counsel had previously drawn considerable attention.

Fury has revealed he has had no contact with his father during preparations for the Usyk fight.

The heavyweight boxer isolated himself at a training camp in Malta, cutting off family communications for three months.

“Like I say, I’ve not spoken to anybody,” Fury confirmed.

His brother Shane has been the only constant presence throughout the 60-day camp, with Fury noting: “Shane’s been with me the whole camp. We’ve had 60 days together, each other’s company, killing each other.”

Only his brother Hughie made a brief appearance, visiting the camp two weeks ago.

“When I say I’ve not spoke to nobody, I really haven’t spoken to anybody,” Fury emphasised.

Fury’s Malta training camp followed a regimented daily routine with minimal distractions.

“Just been focused on the fight and doing my job, you know, being in camp,” the heavyweight boxer said.

His strict schedule involved morning and evening gym sessions, followed by meals and early nights.

“I went to the gym in the morning, come back, had my food, went to the gym in the evening, come back and had my food, and then I’d watch TV, went to bed,” Fury detailed.

The only deviation from his training regime was attending church on Sundays.

The facilities in Malta provided good weather and suitable training conditions for his preparation.

“He’s only five. He wants me to severely smash it,” Fury added.

Fury has suffered just one defeat throughout his career, which was against Usyk in May.

The Ukrainian is undefeated from all 22 of his own professional fights and has previously beaten the likes of Anthony Joshua, Tony Bellew and Daniel Dubois.
