A man has been taken to hospital following an assault in Belfast city centre.

The altercation took place in the Fountain Street area on the evening of Tuesday, December 10.

PSNI Sergeant Rooney said it was reported “a man threw an ashtray at another male, and a woman, which missed them” at around 6.30pm.

“An altercation then is believed to have taken place between the male victim and a number of other men, and the man was reported to have been assaulted, sustaining a broken wrist which required hospital treatment,” they added.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident, and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, and saw what happened.

“If anyone has any information which might assist us, please call 101, and quote reference number 1378 of 14/12/24.”
