A Bristol pub known for its in-demand and ‘legendary’ roast dinners has announced when it will reopen its diary for bookings for 2025. The Bank Tavern on John Street has been known to have somewhat of a waiting list when it comes to its award-winning roasts.

And it has recently published a notice on its website to let people know when they can begin trying to bag themselves a booking for the next 12 months. The Bank Tavern says: “Fantastic news Bank Tavern fans! We will re-open the booking diary at 10am on January 1, 2025, for Sunday lunch bookings.

“We have taken the decision to release it to you lucky people nice and early so you can show off to family and friends that you have been fortunate to secure a table at the world renowned Bank Tavern. So get all your friends and family on their laptops, tablets and phones as tables are likely to sell out quicker than Glasto and Oasis tickets!”

The pub team then go on to explain what prospective diners will need to do to book, writing: “Remember that you will need to enter your card details when making your booking and if you fail to do so your booking will not be confirmed and your reservation will automatically be cancelled. We are looking forward to welcoming you to The Bank Tavern.”

Describing itself as a “small pub with a big heart”, The Bank Tavern is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, and has stood since the 1800’s. This ‘independent free house’ prides itself on ‘stocking local and national award winning ales, ciders and lagers accompanied by excellent food and not taking itself too seriously’. Outside seating is available throughout the year, too.

In previous years, The Bank Tavern’s roasts – which were crowned the home of Bristol’s best Sunday Lunch at the Observer Food Monthly Awards in 2019 and the Bristol Good Food Awards in 2018 – have sold out in quick time. This year’s roasts sold out in just hours when bookings opened on January 1, 2024.

Served up from 12pm every Sunday throughout the year, The Bank Tavern describes its roasts as being “plentiful and all ingredients sourced locally from trusted suppliers in and around Bristol”. The pub also offers vegetarian options as well as our classic meat offerings.

Recently, top US rugby star Ilona Maher – who boasts a huge social media following – tried one of The Bank Tavern’s legendary roasts, describing it as “spectacular”, and adding: “It’s everything I wanted. This is awesome.”
