A Toronto Police officer has been taken to hospital after responding to a call early Tuesday.
In a post on X, police said the officer responded around 5 a.m. to an assault call in the Eglinton Ave. E. and Mount Pleasant Rd. area.
They say the officer came in contact with a toxic drug that was possibly Fentanyl.
Narcan was administered and the officer was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Narcan, a brand name for naloxone, is a fast-acting medication used to temporarily reverse the effects of opioid overdoses, according to Health Canada.
Police did not say how the contact happened or what transpired during the call.
