A Bristol pub on bustling Gloucester Road has officially reopened following an extensive three-week refurbishment in time for Christmas. Described as ‘giving the iconic pub an exciting new look’, The Flyer has been given a facelift while ‘keeping its traditional look and feel inside’.

Changes include a complete transformation inside and out, creating what is being dubbed ‘one of the best beer gardens in Bristol’. The garden now includes brand new heaters, a retractable awning, new furniture and plants, meaning guests can now enjoy some food and drinks in the outdoor space all year round.

The transformation also includes a new menu, which features dishes like homemade scotch eggs, pan fried seabass and avocado and mango salad, as well as a range of Sunday roasts. Alongside the new menu, guests can also enjoy an ‘extensive’ drinks menu, boasting a wide selection of craft beers, ciders and cocktails.

Speaking about the refurbishment, General Manager Luke Coughlan at The Flyer said: “We are super excited to be seeing the Flyer reach its full potential. After a great year building a fantastic, friendly team, focusing on the quality of our service, food and drinks we get to see the pub receive a massive investment and transform into one of, if not the best pub in Bristol!”

One of the biggest pubs on Gloucester Road, The Flyer is known by many for its TV appearances, including the iconic finale of The Young Ones, as well as Only Fools and Horses. Following the ‘extensive refurbishment and significant investment’ made at the pub, five new jobs have been created for the local area, with the team now ready to pour pints and serve delicious food to guests.
