According to Alberta RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, at roughly 8:55 p.m., Edmonton airport detachment members received a report of a “possible child abuse case” on a grounded plane at the airport.
When police arrived on the plane, they arrested a woman, and the infant child was taken by ambulance to hospital for assessment.
Savinkoff said the alleged abuse took place on the flight that was coming to Edmonton from Toronto.
Savinkoff confirmed that emergency child services were contacted, and the woman has since been released. No charges have been laid, but the investigation is ongoing.
