Bath Christmas market has closed for another year – but organisers have teased a special announcement. Thousands flocked to the hugely popular market from November 28 until Sunday (December 15) for mulled wine, merriment and gifts from independent makers.
Bath’s award-winning market closes earlier in the festive season than other major cities, with Bristol’s market remaining open until December 23. And traders had a tough end to their time in the city this year, with Storm Darragh forcing stalls to close and GWR telling customers to consider other travel options on Sunday due to a swathe of cancellations.
Last month – during one of the busiest days in the history of the Bath Christmas Market – a lorry became stuck, leading to significant disruption. It had to be escorted by police out of an area covered by a temporary Anti-Terrorism Traffic Regulation Order (ATTRO), leading to Avon and Somerset Police requesting extended closures.
Organisers have now hinted at more news coming soon in a Facebook post thanking stallholders and visitors.
They said: “That’s it for another year! Bath Christmas Market 2024 is officially closed for 2024. Huge huge thank you to all of our traders, stallholders, staff and of course our wonderful visitors for such an incredible and memorable year.
“Keep an eye out next week for a special announcement.”
This year’s Christmas market saw more than 230 chalets with twinkling lights lining the city centre from Abbeygate Street to Milsom Street selling everything from chocolate to cheese, homeware and jewellery.
