A fox is reported to have been found decapitated with a ‘sex toy’ in its bottom in a street in Cheltenham. Police have since removed the creature from where it was found and an investigation is underway.

The animal was discovered by a member of the public in Springbank Road in the town on December 11. The person who saw the poor fox posted on social media asking what they should do and stated whoever did something so barbaric to the animal was “clearly in need of help”.

The social media post states: “Just seen a horrific sight at the top of Springbank Road opposite Henley Road. Decapitated fox with a sex toy inserted in its rectum. W** is going on-how could someone be so cruel.

“You are clearly in need of help to do this to an animal. Have tried ringing RSPCA but they are closed. Does anyone know who I should call?”

The member of the public, when replying on the thread, told those who had responded how the police had already been informed. They said the police were being sent to the area and look at any possible CCTV before adding: “Praying whoever is responsible gets Karma.”

Police have said the animal has been disposed of since the report was made. Officers conducted house-to-house enquiries “in an effort to understand the circumstances leading up to the fox’s discovery”.

A Gloucestershire police spokesman said: “Police were called on Wednesday (11 December) to a report of a dead animal that had been mutilated and left in a public place.

“Officers were called by a member of the public shortly after 4.30pm about the partial remains of a fox that had been left on Springbank Road. They have since removed the animal and appropriately disposed of it.

“Investigations have taken place in the area, including a review of CCTV and house-to-house enquiries, in an effort to understand the circumstances leading up to the fox’s discovery.”
