Three people have been hospitalised following a crash involving a bus and a car on a main road in Co Donegal.

The collision between a bus and a car occurred this morning, Wednesday, at around 10am on the main Letterkenny to Derry Road close to Manorcunningham.

Gardaí have confirmed that three people have been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital as a precaution.

The crash involved a Bus Eireann Expressway bus and is believed to have been carrying up to 13 passengers.

The road has been closed and local diversions are in place.

Motorists are being advised to seek alternative routes.

Bus Éireann personnel are currently at the scene of the collision and providing support to those involved in the crash.

A spokesperson for the company said an investigation will be launched into the crash in due course.

“Bus Éireann can confirm a collision occurred involving one of our coaches operating Route 64, Sligo to Derry this morning just after 10am at Manorcunningham.

“Local emergency services and Bus Éireann personnel are in attendance at the scene and providing all necessary support. The collision will be investigated in line with our normal procedures.

“The safety of our passengers, staff and the public is of paramount importance to Bus Éireann. We would like to thank An Garda Síochána and the emergency services for their swift response to the incident.”
