A volunteer police officer allegedly sent sexualised messages and a photograph of a road crash to a woman. Former Special Sergeant Neil Young, who was based in South Gloucestershire, faces a misconduct hearing at Avon & Somerset Police headquarters in Portishead on Friday, December 13.
A notice on the force website said he was accused of breaching the standards of professional behaviour in terms of confidentiality and discreditable conduct. It said: “The alleged facts are: During December 2022 and January 2023, while off-duty, the former officer sent sexualised messages to a woman.
“While on-duty, the former officer also shared a photograph of a road traffic collision with the woman, when he did not have a policing purpose to do so. There were no members of the public in the photograph.”
The notice said that, if proven, the allegations amounted to gross misconduct.
