ITV The 1% Club fans were split over what many called the “easiest ever” final question during Monday’s episode.

Host Lee Mack posed the question which is intended to be so hard only one percent of the population could possibly solve it – referenced in the show’s title.

Three contestants, Daniel Garai-Ebner, James Martin and Jean Pierre Kalebic, made their way through the gamut of questions in their quest to become part of the “one percent club” and win a share of the jackpot.

As all three agreed to take on the final question, they were fighting for the huge £98,000 figure up for grabs.

For their chance at the money, Mack asked: “If you double the number of times the word triple appears, how many t’s would there be in this question?”

The supposed “impossible” question simply required the contestants to count the number of t’s in the question and add one more.

The answer was nine and all three finalists got the question right and scooped a share of the jackpot.

They took home a tidy £32,667 each to the joy of Mack and the studio audience.

The jackpot hadn’t risen to £100,000 due to the fact two players had earlier opted to withdraw their £1,000 “pass” option rather than play on.

However, show fans at home were divided by the outcome, with many branding the final question as too easy as they took to social media to vent their frustrations.

“The easiest 1% question there has even been I reckon,” one watcher said in response to The 1% Club’s X account after it reposted the brainteaser.

Confused, another questioned: “I got to 9?? Surely it’s not that easy? I have missed a catch here somewhere.”

“This has got to be the easiest 1% question ever. I almost never get them right, but even I worked it out in like 5 seconds,” a third admitted.

A fourth boasted: “I got that in no time. Very easy 1% question tonight.”

Some viewers were cynical about the question: “Probably easy to make lots of us think we can answer these puzzles and so boost the audience figures.”

“That was a 25% question at best, guess when so many go out on 90% have to keep it interesting,” another agreed.

Not every watcher was unhappy with the final question with some still finding themselves tripping up over the wording of the teaser.

One who admitted they struggled admitted: “Didn’t get that either. Tripled triple instead of doubling it. Try again tomorrow!”

Mack returns to front new episodes of the ITV quiz show every night this week until Thursday.

He’ll also be back to present a festive edition of the popular quiz show during the Christmas period.
