A South West law firm has taken on additional office space in Truro two years after opening a base in Cornwall. The Family Law Company, on Walsingham Place, has expanded into the neighbouring building, more than doubling the floor space from 520 to 1,152 sq ft.

The practice, which is also based in Exeter and Plymouth, set its sights on Cornwall in 2021 with the appointment of county-based director Lucy Theobald. The team grew to include a legal executive and paralegal, with the office opening in September 2022. There are now seven staff based in Cornwall.

Ms Theobald said: “I’m delighted that the firm’s decision to open an office in Cornwall has proved so successful. We realised we needed more room for our expanding team and fortuitously, the office next door was empty and available. Having this additional space means we can continue to grow as needed, so we can continue to meet the needs of local people.”

The firm’s latest recruit is legal secretary Rosalie Longman, who spent seven years as a beach lifeguard – mainly at Perranporth beach for the RNLI. After completing her law degree, she joined the Truro team in October.

Ms Theobald added: “As well as the expertise I believe we have an ethos that resonates with the region. This county is a very special place and the team are all local, understanding the needs of the people of Cornwall.”

The Family Law Company has 30 lawyers in the South West of England and offers services including divorce and finance, care, private law children cases, domestic abuse, legally aided cases, international abduction and cases involving HBV.

Over the past two years, the firm has held a number of local networking events and sponsors the Truro football team.
