Police are on the hunt for a 26-year-old Toronto man after a person was confined to an apartment and choked by an assailant.

Toronto Police said they responded on Friday to a call about unknown trouble in the Warden Ave.-St. Clair Ave. E area, where an attacker choked, threatened to kill and assaulted the victim “multiple times.”

Police said the victim had been confined to their apartment, but was able to escape and call authorities for help.

The assailant fled from the area before the police arrived.

Phoenix Macrae-Therien is wanted for forcible confinement, assault, assault/choking, uttering threats and three counts of assault with a weapon. Police urged anyone with information to call 416-808-4100.

COPS ASSAULTED AT RALLY

One person is in custody after a police officer was allegedly assaulted at a rally in North York.

Toronto Police said the incident happened just after 2 p.m. on Sunday at a demonstration in the Bathurst St.-Sheppard Ave. area, but had yet to release details about whether any charges were laid.

Police said no one was injured.

401 REOPENED AMID ‘SUDDEN DEATH’ PROBE

A section of Hwy. 401 has reopened in the east end of the GTA amid a “sudden death” investigation.
The OPP’s Highway Safety Division said just before noon that the westbound lanes were closed between the Westney and Salem Rds. exits, as officers investigated near the Harwood Ave. overpass. The eastbound lanes were unaffected.
The highway was reopened by about 4:30 p.m., although police did not release any other details about the incident.
