Over half of us admit to singing along to Christmas songs even though we find them annoying. While the classics remain beloved, 65% are also interested in hearing new festive tunes, reflecting a desire for an evolving holiday soundtrack with more diversity.

In response, Jack Daniel’s is collaborating with emerging artists Lemzi and CHAR to create original holiday songs across various genres. The grassroots initiative aims to encourage the nation to try something new, by capturing the authentic emotions and experiences of the holidays, moving beyond the well-worn tropes of traditional festive music, and inspiring a wave of unique holiday sounds.

Lemzi’s track offers a reflective and heartwarming take on the season, emphasising connection and resilience. His lyrics speak to the importance of supporting loved ones: “It’s the time I hope you don’t feel like you must stand alone / It’s been a heavy year and I can see you’re feeling hampered bro / It’s peace between you and me I know we’ll keep the anger low.” He also touches on the power of returning home and celebrating togetherness: “But all the roads on maps are prone to draw you right back to home / And that’s always sweet to the ear.”

Lemzi said: I’m one of those people who can be a bit bah-humbug when some of the old Christmas songs come on. Not because I hate them, but more-so because I know how many other good songs, topics or sounds are out there that could still create a dope aesthetic! For me, this track is showcasing that there’s always a big wide world, some of it in our minds where the grass is greener, but despite this, returning to your definition of home will always mean something special”.

Charlotte’s track captures the energy of the season with lyrics like “It might be cold out but at least / We’re gonna dance.” Her song evokes a sense of spontaneous celebration and forging new traditions with lines like, “With these winter nights unwritten / Old friends, new traditions / Letting go, we feel the rhythm / We make the rules, and leave Tinsel as we go / We’re gonna, we’re gonna And then we’re gonna dance.”

CHAR says: My favourite lyric of the song is “We make the rules and leave tinsel as we go”, it’s about being unapologetically yourself and embracing the joy of leaving a little sparkle behind you. I love forging my own path while making memories with friends, both old and new.

‘Taxis and Tinsel’ captures that feeling of anticipation and spontaneity—country with a modern dance twist. Working with Jack Daniels, such an iconic brand, to incorporate their authentic sounds into the track was unbelievably exciting. I can’t wait for people to hear it and maybe even see people trying the dance!”
