A 29-year-old Windsor man faces charges after the sexual abuse of a 3-year-old child was livestreamed on social media. 

Officers with the Windsor Police Service internet child exploitation (ICE) unit began an investigation Friday after receiving a tip from the Toronto Police Service that a Windsor man had made and shared a child sexual abuse video on a popular social media platform.

Police said investigators quickly traced the video to a local residence and identified the suspect.

“Within two hours of receiving the initial report, members of the ICE and target base units located and arrested the man near downtown,” police said in a news release.

The 3-year-old child involved in the abuse video was also identified.”

The suspect, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age, making child pornography, possession of child pornography, transmitting child pornography, and accessing child pornography.

Anyone with information about possible child sexual exploitation is urged to immediately contact the ICE unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4896.
