It’s not Christmas yet and the Canadiens’ hopes of making the playoffs in Year 3 of their rebuild seem to already be dashed.

Former Canadiens’ Rick Green and Chris Nilan were teammates on Montreal’s 1986 Stanley Cup team and both worked as coaches after their playing careers. Green was an assistant coach for 11 seasons with the New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings and Canadiens, while Nilan was an assistant coach with the New Jersey Devils for one season and head coach of the ECHL’s Chesapeake Icebreakers for two seasons.
