A bus driver was taken to hospital after his vehicle collided with a building overnight, while Storm Darragh ripped through Northern Ireland.

The incident happened shortly after 3am on the Ballyrobin Road near Antrim.

The driver has since been discharged from hospital.

Translink said: “Our immediate priority is the welfare of our colleague, and we are providing support to them and their family. An internal investigation is underway, and we are working closely with the relevant authorities to establish the circumstances of the incident. As this is an ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide any further details at this time.”

The Airport express bus is understood to have been travelling from Belfast at the time.

Roads across Northern Ireland have been impacted by falling trees, with the PSNI warning the public to “consider essential travel only”.
