Waitrose is recalling ZOE Daily 30+ 7 Day because it may contain small stones and small pieces of metal – which makes it unsafe to eat. ZOE Daily 30+ 7 Day is a plant-based, wholefood supplement that contains over 30 plants, including nuts, seeds, whole grains, and legumes.

It is a blend of minimally processed ingredients, including “nibbed” nuts and seeds, that retain their food matrix. The supplement is high in fibre, a source of plant protein and omega-3s, and naturally rich in copper and can be sprinkled on pasta, eggs, hummus, grilled meat, and yogurt.

ZOE Nutrition is a company that offers personalised nutrition programs based on cutting-edge science. It aims to help individuals understand how their bodies respond to different foods and make dietary choices tailored to their unique biology. ZOE uses data from gut microbiome testing, blood sugar, and blood fat responses to create individualized dietary recommendations. The company’s app and program have gained attention for promoting a personalised approach to nutrition, moving away from one-size-fits-all diets.

Professor Tim Spector is a renowned British epidemiologist, professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London, and co-founder of ZOE. He is widely recognized for his research in gut microbiome science and personalized nutrition. Spector is the author of several best-selling books, including The Diet Myth and Spoon-Fed: Why Almost Everything We’ve Been Told About Food Is Wrong. Through his work, he advocates for understanding the role of gut health, food diversity, and personalized approaches to diet in improving overall health.

Tim Spector also led the ZOE COVID Symptom Study during the pandemic, which provided valuable insights into symptoms, spread, and vaccine responses using data from millions of contributors.

ZOE Daily 30+ 7 Day is designed to, add flavour and variety to your plate, help address a low intake of whole grains, fruits, nuts, seeds, and vegetables, contribute to your intake of fibre, a macronutrient that 9 out of 10 people are deficient in and support the gut microbiome and optimize nutrient absorption.

The recall covers ZOE Daily 30+ 7 Day in 112.5g packs with a batch code of 24266A, 24267A or 24270A and a best before date of September 30, 2025.

Waitrose, where the supplement is sold, is recalling the product. The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

An FSA spokesman said: “If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead return it to your local Waitrose branch for a full refund. For more information contact Waitrose Customer Care 0800 188 884, Option 4.”

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
