Police in Wiltshire pulled over a drink driver dressed as Batman. Dressed as the iconic comic book hero, Lewis Blondrage, 25, of Aliwal Barracks, collided with a telegraph pole in Meerut Road, Tidworth, on November 19.
Blondrage fled the scene and he was chased by local residents into the darkness. Several policing teams, including the dog unit, contained the area and captured Blondrage.
He failed a roadside breath test and was taken to custody where he provided a blood sample which was over the legal limit. On Wednesday (December 4), Blondrage was found guilty of drink driving and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.
The court handed him a 12-month driving disqualification and a £600 fine. Footage from the arrest shows Blondrage, in his Batman outfit, handcuffed at the scene.
He was asked by officers if he had consumed any alcohol in the last 20 minutes, to which Blondrage replied: “20 minutes, I’m not sure.”
Blondrage is then seen taking a breathalyser test, blowing 80. The legal limit is 35. He was then arrested.
