Queen Camilla’s ongoing health struggles are “the last thing” the Royal Family needs right now, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams.

Speaking on GBN Royal, Fitzwilliams addressed the Queen’s recent pneumonia diagnosis, which has impacted her public duties for over a month.

“She has had pneumonia, and this had lasted over a month,” he said. “There’s no doubt at all that this has lasted – there have been several engagements she has missed including the royal film premiere of Gladiator Two.”

The commentator noted that the situation has been particularly “tricky” for the monarchy.

On Tuesday, she was notably absent from the ceremonial welcome at Horse Guards Parade due to the chilly conditions.

Instead, the Queen arrived at Buckingham Palace’s Grand Entrance shortly before the ceremony, offering a smile as she stepped from her car.

She later greeted the Emir of Qatar and his wife inside the warmth of the Palace’s Grand Hall.

The Queen has been forced to cancel several high-profile engagements in recent weeks due to her health condition.

Most notably, she missed the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph, which Fitzwilliams noted was “the last thing she would wish to do, especially considering her father’s notable war record.”

She was also unable to attend the Royal Variety Performance, where the Palace confirmed she was experiencing “lingering post-viral symptoms.”

The Queen additionally pulled out of the Gladiator II film premiere as doctors advised her to rest and recover.

She has been commemorating events “privately at home” during her recovery period.

Medical professionals have urged the Queen to take more time to recover from her illness.

It is understood her condition was viral rather than bacterial pneumonia, and she did not require hospitalisation.

The Queen is now facing bouts of extreme tiredness, which has led doctors to advise taking each day as it comes.

While she was able to attend the state banquet, Fitzwilliams noted she did not appear at the lineup where guests traditionally shake hands with the monarch and his consort.

No major changes are expected to her diary for the rest of the week, though she continues to follow medical advice.
