Arben “Benny” Krasniqi, of Scarsdale, N.Y., whose younger brother Pajtim Krasniqi was shot and killed by his wife Sabrina in their oceanfront Florida condo on Nov. 27, told the New York Post there were “plenty of signs” that the marriage was in trouble, but “never in a million years did we think something like this could happen.
“There was infidelity on her part,” Benny, 43, said of Sabrina. “She came to a point of guilt or something that she just could not take.
“My brother wanted a divorce and she didn’t take that lightly and she decided to take her own life. And somewhere along the line, she decided to take my brother’s life.”
Pajtim, 34, who grew up in Bronx, N.Y., and dabbled in real estate and cryptocurrency in addition to being a day trader, was shot five times inside the couple’s lavish condo before Queens, N.Y., native Sabrina, 27, turned the gun on herself, according to multiple reports.
Both were found dead at the scene.
In the weeks leading up to the incident, neighbours told police of “vicious fights” from the unit, the Post reported citing law enforcement sources, and that the pair would argue on their balcony, too.
Benny said his family is “just trying to cope” with the loss, describing his brother as hard-working, kind and a “genius.
“My mother’s devastated,” he told the Post. “We’ve lost someone who is so genuine, who is so loving, who is so intelligent and hard-working and just irreplaceable — and it has left the entire family devastated.
“My brother was full of life. He was full of ambition. He was full of love. And that’s all been taken away from us by a selfish act of one person. One more selfish act from (Sabrina) and (she took) my brother along with her.”
