One of Bristol’s biggest casinos has announced it is closing tonight, Tuesday, December 3.
There had been rumours that Rainbow Casino in the city centre would close in January, but a notice outside the premises this week has informed customers that the business would be closing immediately.
The announcement said: “Dear customers, we regret to inform you that Rainbow Casino is ceasing operations on Tuesday at midnight.”
The casino is one of two Rainbow casinos in the UK, the other is in Birmingham. The closure has left staff out of work and raised questions about what happens next to the premises, a large part of the main building on the west side of Millennium Square.
The casino was located on the corner of Canons Way and Millennium Square close next to the entrance to the Millennium Square underground car park, and opposite the now Lloyds Bank headquarters at Canons Marsh.
The closure leaves just one casino in Bristol – the Grosvenor on Anchor Road – despite Bristol having a maximum potential of four licences authorised by the city council.
