Lorraine Kelly recently opened up about some of the “mistakes” she’s made throughout her extensive career, crediting her daughter Rosie for inspiring a change. During a conversation on SheerLuxe’s YouTube channel, host Jo Good, a long-time admirer of the popular TV host, praised Lorraine’s choice in jackets and asked about any past fashion faux pas.
With more than 40 years on television, Lorraine candidly shared several wardrobe mishaps, including a particularly memorable jacket that apparently transcended good taste to bother Hollywood actor Liam Neeson’s eyesight, reports the Express.
She humorously reflected: “How long have you got for the mistakes that were made? Back in the ’80s, we had a boss at TV-am who was all for colour.”
The jacket in question had sleeves of lime green and lemon with a burst of rainbow colours like pink, red, and purple which, according to Lorraine, made it quite the horror show.
Lorraine recalled: “It was horrific and I remember I interviewed Liam Neeson wearing that jacket and the poor man, his retinas were sore looking at me.”
Despite many style missteps over the years, Lorraine admitted: “But yeah, no, I’ve got many, many a mistake. You know, I would say up until I was about 55, I was getting it wrong more than I was getting it right.”
Lorraine concluded by discussing the impact of her daughter on her wardrobe choices: “And then I think I decided to take it more seriously. I think it was my daughter getting a bit older and going, you know, ‘Yikes, Mum’, you know, ‘Step away from that. That’s really not good’, and her giving me good ideas.”
The 64 year old television host, renowned for her stints on Good Morning Britain, GMTV and Lorraine, was bestowed with the prestigious BAFTA Special Award this year in tribute to her extensive career.
This year also marked the arrival of her granddaughter, Billie, as her daughter became a mother. Speaking to Platinum magazine, she revealed that she had been partaking in “a lot of wee celebrations”, but Billie’s arrival is the “biggest thing to happen”.
Discussing her newfound role as a grandmother, Lorraine shared: “It’s fantastic. I’m going there this afternoon to make sure Rosie gets a wee sleep and Steve, her partner, has a wee walk out in the fresh air and just to do whatever I can.”
