Forward Joshua Roy was assigned to the Montreal Canadiens’ farm club on Monday.

Roy, originally from St-Georges-de-Beauce, was left off the scoresheet in four games with the Canadian following his recall on Nov. 25.

The 21-year-old Quebecer has scored eight goals and had eight assists in 17 games this season with the Laval Rocket.

He has four goals and five assists in 27 career NHL games, all with the Habs.

Roy was selected in the fifth round, 150th overall, by the Canadiens at the 2021 NHL Draft.

This news comes after forward Patrik Laine published a photo on Instagram showing him in front of the St. Joseph Oratory on Mount Royal, with the words: “A big week coming up. I hope Father André is a hockey fan.”

Laine could soon begin his season with the Habs after being injured at the end of September during a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, following contact with forward Cédric Paré. The Canadiens said the 26-year-old Finn would be out for two to three months.

Laine was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Aug. 19 in exchange for defenceman Jordan Harris and a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL draft.

The Canadians play Tuesday evening at the Bell Centre against the New York Islanders.
