For those wrestling with a worn-out Christmas tree from the attic or if your current one looks a tad forlorn, a TikToker has shared a clever trick to give your tree a plush makeover. TheHomeChic on TikTok offers a simple solution for anyone aiming to extend the life of their artificial tree.
The savvy decorator demonstrates how her £45 tree is transformed into a stunning centrepiece by weaving in tinsel that matches the colour of the branches, reports the Mirror. She advises: “Look, Christmas is expensive enough. Let me show you the easiest way to get a fuller tree without having to buy a really expensive one.”
As she guides viewers through the process, she said: “It’s just tinsel, but specifically tinsel that’s the same colour as your tree because we are not trying to draw attention to it but blend it. So, instead of wrapping it around the tree like you normally would, you are going to go back and forth horizontally filling in any gaps and covering any empty spaces.
“Going back and forth instead of around the tree means you have enough at the front, and it doesn’t get tangled when you take it down later. Plus, you’re only placing at the front where people can see because what happens at the back is truly none of my business.
“Take a step back and admire your work and there you go, a thick, full and fluffy tree without breaking the bank. No gaps, no notes.”
There are various shades of green tinsel available on Amazon, you are sure to find a colour that matches your tree. The ESINO 6M Green Christmas Tinsel Garland is shiny and bright for £7.99, while the DIYDEC 50 Feet Green Christmas Garland Decoration has a more realistic dark green for £15.99.
If your tree is frosted, they also have the 32.8 Feet Christmas Tinsel Garland for £9.99. And B&Q offers 2m of dark green tinsel for just £1.
