Sub Ryan Nolan rescued a point for Larne in Nathan Rooney’s first game in charge of the Invermen.

Cliftonville had deservedly led ever since Joe Gormley fired them in front from a tight angle on 29 minutes.

However, defender Nolan headed home as Larne made sure Rooney avoided defeat in his first taste of Irish League football.

The result leaves Linfield seven points clear at the top, with Larne back in ninth place and having four games in hand.

FT: LARNE 1 CLIFTONVILLE 1

Well that’s two points dropped by Cliftonville. They were the better team by a distance, missed several chances to double their lead, only to concede a sloppy goal in the 88th minute.

It was a poor showing from Nathan Rooney’s Larne, but the Invermen deserve credit for fighting until the last kick.

It’s fine a free-kick from Conor McKendry, that picks out Ryan Nolan at the back post. Nolan outjumps Casey and heads down towards the near post. Odumosu should save it…but it slips underneath him and into the net
