A man has been hospitalised following a rescue operation which saw him recovered following an incident at the Giant’s Causeway on Sunday.

HM Coastguard confirmed they sent a helicopter from Scotland to respond to the incident at the popular tourist spot during this afternoon.

The man was reported injured at around 12:45pm this afternoon when the Coastguard was called to help.

A search and rescue helicopter was sent to help from Prestwick, and was assisted by the RNLI’s Portrush all-weather lifeboat and Ballycastle Coastguard rescue teams.

The helicopter successfully lifted the injured man to the clifftops near the Causeway, before being taken to hospital by an Air Ambulance.

The Coastguard also alerted the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service about the operation.
