Ulster Elks could move as high as third in the EYHL should they overcome UCC at Jordanstown on Saturday.
The University side have been in fine form in the 2024/25 season, picking up 15 points from their 10 games so far, and are just three points behind second-placed Old Alex.
In the previous weekend, three late goals in as many minutes from Anna Mollenhauer, Shannon McNeill and Zahra Lowry saw the side seal a dramatic comeback against Loreto before beating them on penalty run-ins.
Joel Cathcart’s team will now look to take that momentum into Saturday’s game as they face a side that beat them 4-1 earlier in the season.
That day, four goals from Sarah Young, Milla Fulton, Katherine Eagan and Rachel O’Brien sealed the win for the Dubliners and inflicted a second defeat of the 2024/25 season for Elks.
Elsewhere in the division, Pegasus host Pembroke Wanderers at The Dub.
Without a win in their previous four games, the Belfast club have slipped down the EYHL table of late.
Indeed, Pegasus come into Saturday’s game off the back of a run-ins loss against local rivals Ards. A Sophie Moffett strike forced the sides to penalties, but it was Pegasus who came out on the wrong side of the result.
Phil Rankin’s side now take on Dublin opposition as they look to get back to winning ways.
However, the previous meeting showed the sides to be evenly matched as they played out a 1-1 draw in the southern capital on Matchday Two.
Failure to win could see the club move within touching distance of the relegation places, whilst a positive result could push them into the top half.
The final EYHL game of the weekend sees Ards take on Old Alex at Londonderry Park. A win for the Ulster side could see them out of the relegation zone should UCD fail to beat League leaders Loreto.
In the Legacy Wealth Management Premier League, Belfast Harlequins travel to Omagh in search of a fourth win in five games but face a side that held them to a 0-0 draw on Matchday Two.
Duke Cup winner in the 2023/24 season Alyssa Jebb has been in fine form, scoring in three games in a row to help her side climb the table.
However, under the stewardship of Mark Cuddy, the hosts have seen an upturn in form.
Already just one point off of their points tally from 2023/24, the Co Tyrone side have won two of their previous three games and currently occupy a mid-table spot.
