Bob Bryar, the drummer for My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2014, has reportedly died at the age of 44. US website TMZ reported that he was found dead at his home in Tennessee just before Thanksgiving.
The last time Bob was seen alive was on November 4. There is reportedly no suspicion of foul play.
A medical examiner is currently investigating the cause and circumstances of his death, according to reports. TMZ also reported that animal control officials visited his residence to remove two dogs after his body was reportedly discovered.
Fans have paid tribute to the news. Speaking on X, the elder emo said: “it’s a sad day for every MCR fan. he was so pivotal to their sound for so long.”
A J 9 5 said: “Drumming on the black parade album is exceptional, RIP to a legend.” The account Life Echoes Psychology Facts said: “A heartbreaking loss for the music world. Bob Bryar’s impact on My Chemical Romance and fans everywhere won’t be forgotten. Rest easy, legend.”
Andrewbooboo said simply: “rest in peace king”. And gab added: “oh my 🙁 i was a huge fan of the band when i was younger. that’s so bad.”
Bob first met My Chemical Romance while touring with The Used in 2004. He officially replaced MCR’s original drummer Matt Pelissier shortly after the release of their 2004 album Cheers For Sweet Revenge.
He played the drums on 2006 album The Black Parade. He also contributed to songwriting for their 2010 record Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.
Prior to the release of Danger Days, Bob left to work with other bands. He later announced his departure from the music industry to pursue a career in real estate, reports the Mirror.
My Chemical Romance was formed on September 12, 2001, just a day after the terrorist attacks of September 11. Rolling Stone reported that singer Gerard Way was working at Cartoon Network in New York City and “experienced the aftermath firsthand, inspiring him to create something that could change the world for the better.”
