SACK FRONT

I read about the unfortunate passing of the Hamilton QB recently in the Sun. I’m pretty sure a full-size picture of Joe Zuger hunched over after an Argo sack was the inaugural front page of the very first edition of the Toronto Sun in 1971. I’m surprised you never mentioned this. I used to deliver the Toronto Telegram as a kid so I remember that first edition. I know there were a host of Telegram writers that were part of genesis of the Toronto Sun. I’m still reading and enjoying the Sun, 50-plus years later. Thanks for the memories.

(It was indeed the first front page for the Toronto Sun and it’s included here)

The late Joe Zuger, a former player and GM for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, graced the front page of the very first edition of the Toronto Sun in 1971.

TRUMP’S STRONG MESSAGE

Re “Trump tax no bluff” (Warren Kinsella, Nov. 27): Trump’s unanimous win was largely due to his promise to stop the ridiculous mass border “invasion” into the U.S. While this was obviously mainly directed at Mexico, you can’t close the southern border without worrying about the northern — hence the double tariff threat. So Trump announces the threat of 25% tariffs two months before taking over, hoping the message gets the two countries moving right away. And it has worked! Trudeau spoke with him right away and met with all premiers. There will be agreements at both borders likely before Trump’s first day. I know you hate him, Warren, but we should be so lucky here.

(There will be some action before inauguration. And if this gets Trudeau act, so be it)

PM DONALD

If the result is a stronger border and better defence, then Trump will have done us a service. Shame on Canada. Now maybe he can help us with bail reform and endless pro-Hamas so-called protests. Trump for PM?

(If the Conservatives win the next federal election, they will address those issues thankfully)
