A cleaning gadget that I recently put to the test, which left my carpets looking like new, has had its price slashed by £100. As part of Shark’s early Black Friday sale, the Shark CarpetXpert HairPro Pet Deep Carpet Cleaner is now available at a tempting discount, with the price reduced from £349.99 to £249.99.

I used the cleaner on my carpets, which were showing signs of wear and tear due to my dog, and was thoroughly impressed. The device, which resembles a slightly heavier vacuum cleaner, comes with five attachments for the StainStriker tube, as well as a bottle of StainStriker and CarpetXpert cleaning formula.

Setting up the cleaner is fairly straightforward, with a comprehensive instruction manual to guide you through the process. Alternatively, if you’re tech-savvy, there’s a QR code you can scan to watch ‘how to’ videos.

Attaching the tube and filling up the tanks is pretty self-explanatory – just make sure to put the correct liquid in each compartment and plug it in, then you’re ready to go. I was simultaneously shocked, repulsed, and amazed when I first emptied the dirty water tank.

A large clump of hair had gathered in the filter section, surrounded by murky water (I’ll spare you the picture as it’s a bit gross), reports the Mirror.

I regularly vacuum the carpets and was quite shocked to see the amount of dog hair that had accumulated, yet I was equally impressed by how effortlessly the Shark vacuum removed it. Each time I emptied the tank, I was astounded by the sheer volume of hair that must have been embedded deep in the carpet, which even a powerful vacuum hadn’t shifted.

Shark makes bold claims about its cleaner, such as it removes “three times more pet hair than any upright carpet cleaner” and it “instantly removes stains and odours with 20 times more stain striking power”. However, one thing I wasn’t completely satisfied with was the hose.

The design for storing it around the machine isn’t perfect, and I found the hose kept detaching as I moved the machine around. It became irritating after a few instances, so I ended up removing it while using the main body of the vacuum and only reattaching it when I needed the StainStriker tool.

Also, the tank isn’t particularly large, so don’t expect to clean your entire house in one session; you’ll need to refill it with water and cleaning solution quite often, as well as empty the dirty water tank. In the run-up to Black Friday, Shark has reduced prices on many of its top-selling products, as retailers vie for attention during the year’s biggest shopping event.

Shoppers can snap up some impressive discounts, such as the Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Stick Pet Vacuum Cleaner, slashed from £279.99 to £169.99, and the StainStriker Stain and Spot Cleaner, now only £99.99 down from £149.99. But it’s not just one retailer rolling out the early bargains; Amazon has also reduced the Vax Dual Power Pet Advance Carpet Cleaner from £119 to a tempting £94.99.

With a solid 4.3 out of 5-star rating from over 4,000 reviews, it’s a deal worth checking out. The Bissell SpotClean Pet Cleaner, priced at £119 on Amazon, is another compact option drawing in rave reviews.

One happy customer shared their experience: “I bought this for pet stain removal. I used it on my sofa too and was amazed how good it came up. For a small cleaner, it’s great.”

And for those who’d rather not spend lots up front, supermarkets including Asda and Tesco offer Rug Doctors for hire.
