TRUMP MIGHT BE THE SMART ONE
While I would hate to see huge tariffs hurt our economy, Trump is right. Our border security sucks. The current government ties the hands of border enforcement agencies with its non-existent immigration policies and the catch-and-release system for gun runners, terrorists and drug dealers. It’s a shame that Trump has to be the one to point the obvious out to Trudeau. It’s a sad state for Canada when Trudeau makes Trump look like ‘The Smart One.’

(For too long, Trudeau’s border policy has been too lax. It’s unfortunate the threat of tariffs is on the table, but it may get the Liberals to finally act)
HIT THE US WITH TARIFFS
Canada should add a 50% surcharge to the oil and gas tariff that Trump wants to impose. The U.S.A. imports more oil and gas from Canada than all the other countries in the world that they import from and all the U.S. refineries can only refine our heavier products. They have to buy our oil and gas. Hit him at the gas pump — that will get the Americans mad and cancel his tariffs.

MORE DEBT
The first rule of behaviour for those who find themselves in a hole is to stop digging. When a government is running huge deficits or servicing huge debt, the last thing they should be doing is giving away money, especially to relatively well-off folks. Whether it’s Ford or Trudeau, please stop the transparent vote buying and show some appreciation for basic economics and financial prudence. Otherwise you have no grounds for instilling future trust.

A BETTER IDEA
Well, here’s an idea. Instead of sending out $250 cheques to everyone he thinks he can bribe to vote for him, could our prime minister please spend the dollars on securing our borders and avoiding a trade war that will cost every Canadian much more than $250? What was I thinking — votes count more than voters with this PM.
